Sited in the middle of Hackney in east London, one of the most deprived and multicultural areas in the country and a referral centre for neighbouring hospitals, the neonatal unit at Homerton University Hospital is one of the busiest and most highly regarded in Britain. Our appointment included redevelopment and relocation of services.

Perinatal: Redevelopment of facilities to support neonatal and maternity services incorporating an enlarged level three neonatal unit, together with the required supporting infrastructure, and reconfigured maternity wards and delivery suite.

The scheme delivered:

• New extension for the delivery suite
• Refurbishment of existing delivery suite
• Extension of the neonatal unit into Turpin Ward
• Refurbishment of the existing neonatal unit

The development includes both new build and incremental refurbishment to areas, decanting departments as each section is completed (carried out in several phases).

Fertility: Relocation and enlargement of existing fertility services including extending the building envelope at first floor level.
