This project has subsequently received the Top Award within the Salisbury City Council Civic Design Nominations.

Fourteen of the flats are for low cost home ownership, the remaining ten flats for general needs rent.

On this four storey project, careful selection of profiles of cedar cladding and the manner of fixing was recommended, to minimise future maintenance and maximise durability.

Recommendations to increase the internal storage areas of flats to incorporate the internal air source heat pumps required to achieve Code for Sustainable Homes compliance, were adopted, with adequate space for future maintenance requirements and avoidance of dismantlement-to-service associated additional charges.

The construction of the below ground parking presented a challenge with the existing land rising steeply to the rear of the site, requiring the side and rear boundaries of the site to be retained with a continuous piled “wall”, in front of which a waterproof reinforced concrete retaining wall construction supported the accommodation above.

The structure up to ground floor level is reinforced concrete, the upper three storeys being timber framed.  Three flats are incorporated at the lower ground/ basement parking level together with large underground cycle store.
