This unique project was formed through a proactive partnering arrangement between ten stakeholders. The scheme comprises the £1.2 billion redevelopment of a 26.5 hectare urban wasteland site in the west of Watford, including a massive improvement to infrastructure. The scheme comprises: New 560 bed acute trauma hospital, primary healthcare facilities, hotel, leisure, retail and commercial spaces, high-tech industrial units, residential developments, including Keyworker units, tri-gen energy plant serving the whole of the site, new 2km access and link road, extension of metropolitan tube line to Watford Junction, work assisted with development of Watford Football Club. ©Images courtesy of Avanti Architects.
