A RUBY CELEBRATION!

On the 9th July 2019 our Oxford Office Director, David Roche celebrated his 40th year working at BAQUS.

Fresh faced teenager David, joined Sworn King and Partners in July 1979 as an apprentice quantity surveyor. He progressed with the firm and became chartered in 1986 and an Associate in 1994.

In 2008 Sworn King and Partners joined BAQUS and he subsequently became a Director in 2013.

40 years of continued service is something to celebrate and is clearly a remarkable milestone to reach in ones life. The commitment and dedication that David has shown to his colleagues and clients over the years is a testament to himself and his family.

On behalf of everyone at BAQUS, thank you for all that you have done and continue to do for the business and your colleagues.

BAQUS BEATS,THE 3 PEAKS!

A huge congratulations to our London Office who completed the Three Peaks Challenge on Thursday Evening. The team made up of 32 people from Axiom Architects, Tower Eight, Applied Energy, Simpson consulting engineers and Whitbread property worked together against the heat and the hills to complete Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in support of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. A huge £64,000 has been raised so far, an amazing achievement, Well done Team!

Travelodge have announced this week their long-term plan for the budget hotel sector and in the next 5 years are aiming to build more than 100 hotels across the country.

Over the past 20 years BAQUS have worked with Travelodge on 57 hotels with over 4,600 rooms and we are excited to continue their journey of expansion in the years to come.

Our colleagues from the London Office have been really busy these last few months and have now successfully completed Quantity Surveying services for 4 new Premier Inn projects!

Premier Inn Epsom, a new build project, which is a short walking distance from Epsom Town Centre and Epsom Downs Racecourse.

Premier Inn Wimbledon, another new build scheme on Wimbledon Broadway with a new Bar & Block Restaurant. The most ideal hotel for a central stay in London.

Premier Inn Farringdon, West Smithfield, which was a part new build, part refurbishment in the heart of Farringdon with London's main attractions at walking distance.

And BAQUS' first Zip by Premier Inn in Cardiff, which provides a low cost and simple stay service, with 138 rooms available.

BAQUS continues to support the GOSH appeal in association with Premier Inn by donating a round of golf at Royal Birkdale Golf Club at their latest 'Premier Inn and Restaurants Charity Gala Dinner'. The team are pleased to hear that this year the Gala Dinner raised over £300,000 for the charity!

Our prize donation raised in excess of £1000 for Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital.

One of our projects, Mountview Academy  in the heart of Peckham, South London, welcomed students through the doors this September, less than eighteen months after breaking ground in April 2017. This was a very short programme for BAQUS but the academy still opened in time to accept it's students! 

 

BAQUS acted as Project Managers and Employer's Agent with Alan Crossan, Scott Owen and Andy Welch from BAQUS' London office working on this huge scheme. The building includes a public foyer with café bar, 200-seat and 80-seat theatres and rooftop restaurant/bar with views across the London skyline. Training facilities include 21, music practice rooms, meeting rooms, two TV studios and a radio suite. Further spaces include work space, a retail unit and a 200 m2 rehearsal studio for commercial hire all designed by Carl Turner Architects.

Bowling Alley Refurbishment | Baqus Construction Consultancy

It’s a Double for BAQUS!

We have completed our second Ten Pin refurbishment in Warrington last week.

The refurbishment took 5 weeks to complete and the results look fantastic, if your in the area pop in and check out the new facilities. 

BAQUS acted as Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers. Senior Surveyor Will Burley and Assistant Surveyor Chris Luck worked together with TenPin to ensure the refurbishment was completed on time so that the bowling alley, arcade and laser combat can be enjoyed by all throughout the rest of the summer holidays.

BAQUS recently worked with Tenpin on their refurbishment at Chichester where we provided Quantity Surveying Services.

Work Experience - Tom

The Chichester Team have had a new recruit for the first couple of weeks of the summer. The team were joined by Tom from The Regis School who had just finished his GCSE exams. Tom was due to stay with us for two weeks but stayed for 3 when asked to extend by another as he was enjoying his time with us. This is what Tom had to say about this time with us and how he came across the idea of wanting to gain some work experience as a Quantity Surveyor.

The Chichester Team have enjoyed having Tom work with us over the past couple of weeks and wish him all the best with his GCSE results. It's great to see the next generation exploring careers in the Construction Industry! 


 

BAQUS NEC Supervisor - Littlehampton Leisure Centre | Baqus Construction Consultancy

Littlehampton Wave Topping Out

Director Keith Potter and Marketing Manager Charlotte Ridgwell attended the Topping Out Ceremony at the New Littlehampton Leisure Centre Site hosted by Willmott Dixon. 

After all guest were kitted up with their high vis and hard hats we had a visit onto the site to look round the new building, followed by speeches and signing of one of the steel supports in the main building. Once returning to site offices everyone was greeted by a tasty BBQ lunch in the glorious sunshine.
