Plans for a new South Downs Centre which will become a hub for communities in the National Park and a base for people who work, partner and volunteer for the South Downs National Park have been submitted for approval.

The South Downs Centre will be sited in the north wing of Capron House, Midhurst and will include the Memorial Hall on the same site. The South Downs Centre will also help to preserve two important listed buildings using best sustainable practice and local skills and materials.

BAQUS Construction Consultancy has been appointed by the South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA) as the Quantity Surveyors/Cost Managers for this project.

Trevor Beattie, Chief Executive of the South Downs National Park Authority said: “The South Downs Centre will be an amazing resource for local communities, both near to Midhurst and across the National Park. It will include space for a wide range of community groups and a centre where people can come for information about the National Park. The plans that we’ve submitted show how the buildings will look and be used, and how we will set new standards of sustainability and community enterprise in the National Park. We’re now developing more detailed plans for how the Centre will work in practice and are looking forward to discussing this with local people.”
